I just bought the garmin beanbag friction mount, with the arm, and
have a couple of questions. The mount has two levers - one is the
locking mechanism, like the windshield mount, and the other a lever in
the back.

When I switch the locking mechanism to lock, it doesn't seem to lock
down, like the windshield mount. Am I suppose to put something down
on the dash, like the disk supplied with the gps, then place the
beanbag on top of it?

Second question is what is the purpose of the lever in the rear of the
beanbag?

Thanks for your help.

for my 60CS beanbag mount, the lever locks the release button.

My bean bag mounts (used with 26xx StreetPilots) have two levers. With
the "Lock" lever facing to the front, there is a lever on the right side
that allows the receiver to slide out of the mount with it is pressed
down.

Sliding the Lock lever to the right keeps the receiver from being
pivoted to the right and left. When all the way to the right, the Lock
lever also keeps the dismounting lever from being pressed down.

The lock just prevents swiveling or removal of the top part of the
mount.

Thanks everyone - I played with it some yesterday, and realized I
should have done that before posting...by the way, the mount works
great, and can't think of using anything but this now...Scott

That's one of few thing left I still can enjoy when spending money on
newer toy, by having the chance to explode it. Because I don't knw either
because of age or after the minor heart-attacked I had around 10+ years ago,
I no longer can afford some excitement <bg>
