Garmin GPSMAP60csx lost all satellites....and would not re-acquire. I
had to reload the software using the WebUpdater. This is the second
time this has happened. This time I was in a familiar area so no big
deal. Two weeks ago I was in Canada and would have not been happy if
this happened while on that trip.

Is this a problem Garmin is aware of or do I have a faulty unit?

Anyone else hear of this? Apparently it lost the GPS chip software?

Did you press the on/off button before the first screen came up during the
powerup process trying to turn on the backlight? I've seen here before where
people say that's how you do a total Reset to the 60Cx/Csx series. Maybe
both times you reset the thing by mistake?

Well...I spoke w/ Garmin Tech support. She had me do a complete reset
by holding down the Page and Enter buttons then hitting the Power
button. This did absolutely nothing other than erase my settings and
waypoints and tracks etc...
She did not even listen to me when I told her that I lost all of the
satellites.

Anyone else want to chime-in?
Symptoms are no satellites when power on....no matter how long I left it
on it never acquired a single satellite. I had to use the web updater
to reinstall the unit software as well as the GPS software.

Sounds like a receiver hardware problem, so resetting won't do any
good. In other words, your receiver took a shit so the data isn't
being received from the satellites to be processed.

I'd send it back to Garmin and let them send you a new one.
