Nuvi owners - please ask Garmin for a north arrow on maps
|
|
| jeffcarp 2007-11-16, 3:33 pm |
| If you would like Garmin to add a small north arrow to the Nuvi map
while in a route, please help us and send them a POLITE email,
POLITELY requesting this feature.
I have owned a Garmin Streetpilot III, 2610 and 2730. I now have a
Nuvi 760. I was shocked yesterday, to be in the middle of a route in
Chicago, to find there is no indication of where NORTH is while in a
route. While NOT in a route, the right info tab shows you the
direction of travel. But this information disappears when navigating
a route.
I feel that there are a multitude of reasons why knowing where NORTH
is, is important. If you agree, please send this request to:
techsupp@garmin.com
Thank you.

I totally agree with you. That is one of the reasons I've stayed away
from Garmin. I always want to know which direction I'm heading.

I totally agree with you. The lack of a compass or north arrow is one
of the few reasons I've stayed away from Garmins. I think that the
only flat profile Garmin that has a north arrow is the Nuvi 350. I
always like to know the direction I'm heading and in some situations
can come in really handy.

I have no idea what you're talking about unless you are just trolling --
in which case you got me..
I have also owned SPIII and currently 2610 and there is always a little
arow inthe left top corner indicating North.. Check your "Map setup"
maybe you changed something..
I'd like to see my vehicle pointing up at all times.

| As I said, the SPIII, 2610 and 2730 *DO* have a north arrow. The Nuvi
does not.

What model are you referring to? My wife's 350 displays a north arrow.

He's not trolling. He has a SPIII, a 2610, and a 2730. They have the
North indicator. He NOW has, in addition, a Nuvi 760. It does NOT have
the North indicator on the screen.
There is nothing to check in his "map setup".
They took that feature away when they went to the current user
interface. I, too, miss that feature--on my Windows PocketPC or
whatever they call it now. I upgraded to the newest software, from the
original, and lost the North indicator. But I have the same interface
as the Nuvi.

My Nuvi 360 has a North Arrow in the middle left hand side.

The OP indicated a 760 in his original posting

But only the 3xx series, according to reports, has the North arrow.
Even the 4.0.x software that Garmin provided for my PocketPC and GPS 10
doesn't have the North arrow.

My 750 doesn't have it. Funny thing is, on the main screen the icon you hit
to "View Map" depicts a map view with a north arrow.
