Transferring Maps to the PC

| Maybe I can't do this but here goes anyway...
I've just bought North American maps on SD for my European Zumo 550.
I'd like to transfer them to my PC so I can use Mapsource to plan
routes (which is much easier IMO than trying to do it on the Zumo).
When I ask Mapsource to transfer maps from the Zumo it tells me there
are no maps on the device. There are as I checked the Zumo could see
the NA maps before I connected it to the PC.
Am I missing something obvious or is what I want to do not possible?
Thanks.

What you want to do is not possible. If you call Garmin and are persistent,
they might send you the DVD with the maps. It may require several calls
until you connect with a cooperative person.

Oh :(. Thanks. I've started the ball rolling with an email to Garmin support
who are usually quite prompt with their replies and I'll follow up with a call
if required.

The best I could do was get them to agree to take the SD back which probably
means I'll be down the postage [shrugs].
Do you think I can find anyone in the UK who has the DVD in stock? You're
right, I can't. Garmin have quite stringent unlock policies, if I buy the DVD
in the US am I likely to have problems unlocking them on my UK Zumo?
Thanks.
