Newbie question c340

| I tried to make heads or tails of available software but Garmins
website is almost useless. First off I did install webupdater and
did update my c340 but I have two question that I can't find an
answer for.
1. MapSource ? What is it? Is it pre-installed on my unit ? I tried to
download what I thought was MapSource but when installed and run
with the Unlock code it says I need to have MapSource before I can use
MapSource. Please explain. Garmins website doesn't.
2. The optional SD card ? What goes on the optional card ? Other
countries ? Are the optional cards pre-loaded ? If not what software
loads on to the card ?

Mapsource is the same map on the unit, but you can also put it on your
computer. It does not come with the unit, but available from Garmin. Write
to their tech support. I got my copy free, but I'm not sure of what thier
policy is. If you just bought it, you want to be sure you have the latest
map available for your unit also.

The SD card is the same one that digital cameras and other electronics use.
If you buy a new or additional map, it will come on an SD card. You plug in
the card and it will read from it. So if you go to New Zealand, you can
take it with you and have the right map available.

Ok, so when I registered my product they gave me the option of getting
the Unlock code, even though I can't get to the PC version of it?
What's up with that?

So if I plan on using the unit for the continental US, that is already
loaded into the unit then there is no need for the optional
SD card?

I located a way to get MapSource to work on a PC.
First after you register go and get the Unlock code for MapSource.
Then just download and install " TrainingCenterForWin
dows_332.exe"
Then you can install and run successfully "MapSource_6136.exe"
& "nRoute_276.exe"

Correct. Some units (Nuvi series) can be used as an mp3 player so the SD
card holds the music.
