I just got a garmin street pilot 330 for Christmas and it seems to function
just fine except that at the end of a 300 mile trip is flashed a low battery
message and shut off. It was plugged into the cigarette lighter at the
time.

What is the problem?

Did you have a good connection? Are you using the Garmin mounting bracket
with the power attached to it? It may not be seated properly. I don't know
about your model, but when I put my Nuvi in the mount it comes on from the
car power. No switch to press for "on". If yours works the same way, it
would be simple enough to check.

I did check the mount with my volt meter and there is power present. Your
suggestion about not turning on the unit until I plug it in is noteworthy.

Thank Ed

Your 330 should also when you plug it into your usb on your computer,
if it charges there , then your c330 is ok.check your power cord and
connector
in your car again.

I don't think that's quite what he said. The unit should come on
automagically when you plug it into the cradle, if the cradle is
plugged into power. There is no +need+ to turn it on manually, not
that you shouldn't.

I will sometimes turn my c330 on manually before putting it onto the
cradle if I'm going to be entering a destination I have to enter by
address or search for in the POIs. Then when I put it in the cradle,
it switches to line power.
