| OK, I think I might have goofed. I do a lot of hiking and I got a Vista
HCx for Christmas.
So now I'm trying to get maps. I had thought to get the National
Geographic maps, based on their advertised claims that they support Gamin
Vista. Turns out they don't - they only transfer waypoints, not maps.
I don't think the 1:100K maps from mapsource are at all sufficient for
hiking.
So...
Looks like I have a choice:
1. Buy both Mapsource and NG, use the GPS to get a 'rough idea' where I
am and then use the paper map for detail. Drawback to this is that I get
to dish out nearly $200 in maps.
2. Put up with the limited 1:100K maps.
3. Leave the GPS at home and just use the NG paper maps.
ARGHHH!!!!!
Is there *any* source for 1:24K maps for Garmin, other than the NP maps
that Garmin sells? Those are useless to me as the PNW has few NP and
much NF.
