Can anyone find any Fedex location in the USA in any of the Garmin
databases?
Same for Kinko's.

Using City Navigator NA v8, I get a handful of Fed Ex locations under a
few variations of "Fedex", "Fed Ex" and "Federal Express", and a few
Kinko's, but nowhere near the number that actually exist.
It doesn't find any Fed Ex locations in Minnesota, and only one Kinko's.

Bert:
I took a random metropolitan area, Chicago, in my n=FCvi 660 (v8) and
according to Garmin, there are no Fedex (Fed Ex search is exactly the
same as spaces are ignored) or Kinko's offices in the greater Chicago
area.
But, we should be so lucky: at least there are two Fedex locations in
Memphis: the world headquarters and one shipping office. None in
Boston. I wonder if NYC has one.

Once enough people have GPS devices with the capability to use extended
POI files, like many of the newer Garmins, TomToms, etc. then I'd
expect to see corporate websites include downloadable files of their
locations.

That is a very good point, Peter. That's a good solution for the
Fedexes and McDonaldses of the world. But what about the mom and pop
operations? What they need is a way to:
(1) connect to the GPS manufacturers database (I hear there is a single
provider for Garmin, Magellan, Tomtom and everybody else?) and verify
that they are indeed correctly listed.
(2) modify/correct the errors, add new locations, phone numbers, etc.
With the current methods erroneous or missing entries can affect the
database forever. The rate at which businesses (or even roads) change
may be higher than the speed of them getting into a database.
I will be traveling from Boston to Austin soon; do you think I should
connect to every web site of every business or place of interest I will
be passing by? That's not a job for the client, but for the server, to
offer me its goods and services.

| You can get a POI file of Fedex Kinko locations nationwide at

Kinko's shows up in my nuvi 350 but does not include the nearest one.
Use the "spell name" function.
