| Does anyone know how to search for a city by postal codes or zip codes
on a Nuvi 660?

Enter the postal code instead of the city name - manual page 10

| I have tried that but as soon as I put the first number in the screen
switches to search all cities. It will not let me put in a number. I
am trying to put zip codes in for the United States.

| I don't think any of the Nuvis accept US Zip codes.

| The manual for my Nuvi 350 (page 7) says:
"You can search for a postal code. Enter the postal code instead of the
city name"
I haven't tried it yet.

BT-
I tried it. Or at least I tried to try it. The only way I could enter
a number, was by choosing "Where to?" and "Spell Name". However it
found no matches for the zip code.
I tried prefacing the number with ZIP, but when the Z key was pressed,
three cities starting with Z popped up!

| I just got my 350 and looking in the PDF manual, it states...
"Not all map data provides postal code searching".

| I believe this refers to Canadian "postal codes" rather than
US Zip codes.

John-
My Nuvi 350 pdf manual does not mention this. Possibly others are
different, intended for Canada instead of the U.S.
What is an example Canadian postal code? I'd like to try it with my
Nuvi.

Sorry, I'm in Europe - it works with UK and Spanish postcodes at least.
But having said that it will only take you to an address if you know
the name of the road as well as the postcode. It is just a substitute
for the city/town name.

Try "V6E 1B2" which is the postal code for an address in Vancouver, BC.

John-
This must be a Nuvi 660 thing! When I entered a B for the state,
British Columbia popped up on my Nuvi 350. For the city, when I entered
V6 and pressed the key to enter an alpha character, "Search all cities"
popped up.
This is essentially what happened when I attempted to enter a Zip code
for a US city. The first press of a numeric key brought up the message.
As far as I know, I have the latest firmware updates installed.
However, the maps are one version back from the latest.

| I have a question but not pertaining to Zip or Postal Codes.
What I find is that I key in an address in my city... and go to it...
no problem.
Now I want to go to another address within the same city... I now have
to enter the city I want. This can be annoying when you are
traveling to numerous locations within the same city.
Is there a way to set the city as a "default"..???
Thanks
Gordon

| Hi Gordon
Yeh, I agree that is annoying - the only solution I have found is use the
search all cities and just enter the street name etc - generally you only
get a short list of cities with that street name and I find that easier
than respelling the city each time

I have a general complaint about the inability to set defaults for this
stuff. Every time you do something you have to repeat the input. For
example, WhereTo/Near... is always "Where I am" but when traveling I
want to know about "Near my current route."
