| Has anyone tried using these cards in ths Streetpiolot 2610? I know
the ultra II cards work great but would like to know if these extreme
cards work also. All the info I see on Sandisks website is for
pictures but don't know why it wouldn't work in the 2610. It is only
$99.99 at their website and only $20 more then the ultra cards. Thanks
for any info.

"Users' opinions and actual experiences indicate that there are no
perceivable differences between faster CF and standard CF.
5/20/06 Update: A long time SP2610 user, Jerry Moorhead, recently has
done a timing experiment between a standard 2GB Sandisk card and a 2GB
Sandisk Ultra II. He concluded that the above statement is untrue. He
used the two cards with identical map sets and a chosen route. After 5
calculations, he found that the standard Sandisk card took an average
of 46 seconds while the Ultra II took only 25 seconds. Map redraws
using the Ultra II were also much faster."

Sorry - too early in the morning. The quote was on "ultra" rather than
"extreme"

I am using CF cards with my digital camera which does lot of writting
(when GPS doesn't or rarely), and I do realize that there is Read/Write
speed difference between versions. But I don't think that GPS can make that
much or any difference between those cards.
And most digital camera don't even gain much or any benefit on those cards
*except* using brust-mode to shoot a series of photos, and with faster FPS
then the faster card has some benefit. Or the only big difference is when
transferring file using USB-1 or USB-2 card reader.
And now we can get not only faster than (twice or more than twice faster)
Sandisk Ultra-II, and not 2GB but 8-GB for less than $90
