If it's a General Motors Product, it's called Onstar. Do you see a GPS
receiver antenna? They won't work without one.

I suggest you buy a roll of tin foil and fashion a hat type of
arrangement, taking particular care to fold it shiny side out.

Then place is squarely atop of your head.

You reply is both a little shallow and a little harsh Frank.

There are active tracking devices that can receive GPS signals, get a
fix, and transmit it. There are also passive ones that will just record
the fix data.

I can't help with the question other than to tell him to look for some
kind of device in all the least obvious places.

It will need a sky view and is not likely to have metal between it and
the sky if that helps in looking for it.

It may or may not be connected to a power source. Places like under
back window trays, behind non-metallic bumpers, and under dash boards
are good places to start.

Beyond that, check the Security, Industrial Security, and Information
Security listings for people that may specialize in finding those types
of devices.

It may be none of my business, but...

I'd be really interested in the story behind your question.

What is this device and how did it get there?
Why do you use the term "Illegaly"?
Are you even certain there is such a device in your car?

I'm curious, as I'm sure others are.

This site offers pictures of some automotive tracking devices. Might
give you an idea of what to look for:

To add on that, I would place my bug inside the rear red lamp for the
breaks. There it has power (hidden wires), clear sky, and nice
environment

I thought I have read a similar question here 1-2 weeks ago? BTW, I have
GPS on my car, and if you can tell where my car is then I may tell you how
to locate the GPS device (not the GPS in cellphone of course).

Statistically, Frank is probably correct.
