First Nuvi 350 trip

| I bought the Nuvi 350 for my wife's birthday and last night we used it to go
to an Indian Casino in San Diego. Mostly for dinner and a show featuring a
Sinatra/Martin/Davis tribute -- very fine performance.
The Nuvi performed flawlessly, taking us up winding mountain roads right to
the house of lost money (;-). Our Nuvi voice was Jill and she couldn't
pronounce the roads with the Spanish J's quite right which was entertaining
in itself. She sed La Jolla instead of La Hoya (;-)
We liked the switch over from day to night viewing and it was sufficiently
bright during the day. The Nuvi gave adequate notice of forthcoming turns
and we were surprised when it sed right on this ramp, keep in the left
lane - pretty smart gadget. It never lost satellite lock and took a better
route than MapQuest suggested. Along the way it showed parks, lagoons, etc
that we didn't know were there or the names thereof. It had the latest
roads - one was completed just six months ago.
A side note; before the show I was playing the quarter slots and we needed
to go as the show was opening in 5 minutes. Rather than cash out, I bet max
lines and max bets. Stupid thing started ringing for 5 minutes and awarded
me $285.
After the show Lucky Lucy played her favorite "Wheel Of Fortune -
Progressive" and won $485.
Well we had a fine dinner, great show, paid for the Nuvi all in one night by
obeying the first rule of gambling -- quit when you are ahead.
On the return trip I selected home and the Nuvi proceeded to guide us from
the Casino to home. Lucy decided to take a slightly different route and the
Nuvi spotted this and recalculated a new route. When we got near home it got
confused and offered a wrong turn. Our house overlooks a thoroughfare below
our back yard and the Nuvi thinks we live there. I'll have to change our
home address a bit further south.
Otherwise a winner for the traveler, but don't think it is the unit for a
hiker or the mountain climber (;-0
But wanted to thank this group in helping select the Nuvi 350. Very
knowledgeable helpful group - THANKS GPSers

| Oh forgot I didn't bring the cigarette lighter adaptor -- just used battery
power - trip up and back was about 2 and half hours -- battery was still
cranking along. Also the Nuvi fits perfectly on the dashbord console and
never lost sync.

Our new Nuvi 370 thinks we live across the street, which would require
passing home, taking a turnabout and returning to base. Solved by letting
Nuvi establish current location while I stood in the middle of the driveway,
then saved same as Home.
Add my thanks to all the good people in this forum. You sure know your
stuff.
