All,

I have a Garmin Quest and the issue that I am having is interesting.
I get the dreaded "There was an error communicating with your device.
Please make sure...."

I only get this error when trying to receive from the device. It
sends to the device just fine.

I have tried different cables, I have reinstalled the USB Drivers, I
am about at my wits end :)

Any help would be appreciated :)

Regards,

Brian

Is that an error seen in MapSource when trying to download from the
Quest? If so, if there an Interface or I/O Format setting, try it with
that set to Garmin if it is set to something else.

I'm assuming you are using the MapSource program?

When you are in the "RECEIVE FROM DEVICE" window try UN-checking the
MAPS box.

I don't know why but that has worked for me in the past. I guess the
MapSource program doesn't want the maps because it already has them?

Just a guess but try it.

Let me know if this works.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I fixed the issue by simply
performing a hard reset on the device. Granted I lost all the tracks
that I had (not too many considering it's a refurb for a previous
model that went Tango Uniform and was sent back to Garmin.
