Try this
Go to Settings - The wrench to the right of "WHERE TO?"
Touch Locale (has Lips)
Touch American English Jill (TTS) -
then again
Touch American English Jill (TTS)

There is a statement on page 46 of the manual that sez TTS are Text to
Speech that pronounce street names as you approach turns. Those with out a
persons name do not speak names of locations or streets

Does that help. I am at my desk at home so can't try it.
