How Remove Map From MapSource?
|

| I have purchased and installed City Navigator Version 8 to update from
Version 7. Now they both can be selected from the maps drop-down menu.
How do I properly delete CN version 7 from my PC?
I can't find an obvious way from the MapSource menus, and the "Help" is no
help.

I can see the 4 maps I have installed in MapSource through the standard
Windows "Start Menu/Settings/Control Panel/Add and Remove Programs"
interface. While I have never done so, I believe any (or all) of the
maps can be removed here.

Once you finish your upgrade you can remove the older version without
affecting the new one. I've done this when going from City Select 6 to
7 and again when I upgraded from City Select 7 to City Navigator 8.

Just remember that if you have saved any map combinations for loading
into your GPS with the old versions, you will have to regenerate them
with the new one. I had a whole series of City Nav Oz V7 Map
combinations with contour map overlays from Contours Australia V 1.2.
When I upgraded the contours to V1.21, I had to do all the map
combinations again, as mapsource wanted the old version 1.2, wouldn't
automatically select the new version. Of course I only found that out
after I had deleted the old version.....
Of course, if you have a 2GB SD card, you probably won't care as you
can load everything and only have one saved map to change, but I only
have the GPSMAP60 and can only load 25MB at a time, so I had 20 saved
map combinations - quite a pain to update them all.

To install an update, it has to find the previous version installed.
but you should be able to uninstall the previous version as Tango says.
If you find that the uninstall removes the MapSource application too (it
won't run any more) then download a MapSource update from Garmin and run
that. It will re-install MapSource if it finds the V8 data installed.
