Tried to download that, after 30 mins it said another 19 hours to download - and
that's with my ADSL2 connection. Garmin's update server must be seriously bad ...

on my cable modem.

Push menu button until you see main menu then click enter on setup
then click enter on system then click menu again and you will see it
right above software version.

How about that one? I have U.S. Topo maps turned on and can't seem to
find that.
Otherwise, that's a pretty good update.

JackI just talked with garmin tech and the guy said you have to be
using garmin's 24k topal to see this feature as this 24k topal does do
auto routing in some areas. So my regular u.s. topal maps I have
installed in my 60 CSx will not show this feature. Bummer right?

I must have been thinking of topal toothpaste. Meant topo maps. At
least the data card info is a very nice feature.

Thanks Jerry. I think you're right, we won't get it with the U.S. Topo
maps.
And to further the issues with this announced change, I called Garmin
too and was told that the profile feature will only work on the CSx
models (not on the Cx) and only with topo 24k (not with U.S. Topo).
Garmin always seems to find some way too get stupid when they do things
like this. I'm guessing they could have that "turned on" or working for
any maps that have DEM data but they have elected to only do it only
with the more expensive handheld models and only for the product with
the highest selling price (to cover the same area you need three
separate 24k products at $116.65 each instead one 100k product at
$116.65).
I want 24k topo mapping but can't get it for the areas I want because
they are not inside of one of the 24k areas. And there is no topo
detail at all (not 100k topo detail, nothing but base map highways) on
the areas outside the 24k covered areas.
If Garmin had provided 100k mapping for the areas outside the areas
selected for 24k coverage I would have purchased that, in the Eastern
package, instead of the U.S. wide 100k coverage.
But instead they choose a plan that forces me to have mediocre 100k
coverage everywhere to get the coverage I want. If they expect me to
buy another $450 worth of topo mapping for the little here and there
patches of 24k coverage, they have a long wait coming. Grrrr!

I have TopoGB.
I've forgotten how to get into DEMO, so could someone remind me, then I'll
checkout to see if vertical profile is available.
On the otherhand, if I start up navigation of a route and go to the "Active
Route" page, which lists all the directions for the route, then select
"Menu", then select "Profile", then I can see the vertical
profile(topography) of the route. Is this a new feature or is it that I
hadn't noticed it before?

That must be the new feature. Maybe it is because you have a CSx and
not a Cx. I was told it would only work on CSx models and with the U.S.
24K packages but may the tech guy was speaking just to the U.S.
situation as far as which topo packages.
