Well just tried on second computer running xp home edition service
pack 2 like other computer and it also said can't install hardware.
Are you sure in MapSource under help usb driver versions at bottom of
the list it still says 2.2.0.4 and not 2.2.1.0?

finally decided to call garmin tech and even they are having problems
installing this 2.2.1.0 usb driver. The lady I talked with had to try
4 or more times downloading the file before it worked for her. She
also advised me to wait about a week and then try again.

Just did the update on my XP PRO, no problems and it shows 2.2.0.4 in
Mapsource..

Well it should show 2.2.1.0 not 2.2.0.4. 2.2.0.4 is the previous
update and 2.2.1.0 should be showing in MapSource after this update.
So yours failed like mine did.

I have 60CSx and XP Pro.
Like Bob, it said update was complete, but Device Manager and Mapsource
still show 2.2.0.4 - even after reboot of XP.

| GPSMAP 76CS, Mapsource6.12.2, Windows Vista Home Premium; no problems.
Connect GPS via USB, but don't turn on the unit until instructed by
installation program.
After you tick to agree to all the EULA stuff, you are asked to turn on
unit; within seconds the process is complete.
