Author GPS 18 needs repeated re-installation

Not every time, maybe not every fourth time, but more than once when I
connect my GPS-18 to my laptop's USB port Windows reports that it has
found new hardware, and, indeed, the driver seems to be missing as
nRoute reports that no GPS is connected. Re-installing using the
Windows wizard that comes to life just for the purpose takes only a
minute, but it's a nuisance and, more than that, it's a mystery. Any
idea why this mightbe occurring?

I think that can happen if you connect to a different USB port - are you
using the same one all the time ?

That might be it!! There are two USB slots, one directly above the
other, and I have rarely paid any attention to which one I plug into.
Thanks.

I had the same issue just recently until I downloaded and installed new USB
drivers (using the other USB port this time) and that resolved my issue.

Maybe worth trying for you too.
