Silly Question Time . . .

| This is probably utterly rediculus, but I'll ask it anyway. I know my 60CSx
can draw power from the USB port on my laptop. My cell phone uses the same
cable as my Garmin. This is how I found this out. I have a spare wall
charger from my cell phone that uses the same USB port for power as to
connect to my PC. Can I use the same charger to power my 60CSx?
My car has a power inverter that I've already used with the laptop and cell
phone for long trips. What I want to do is plug the cell phone charger into
the power inverter and attach the GPS via the mini USB. I can't get to the
charger right now to see the voltage output, but if the output is the same
as the Garmin uses, are they then compatible?

Depends.
Does the charger deliver the same 5V DC as the USB port, or does the
phone switch depending on which power source it sees? Or does the phone
simply charge slower when the low power USB connection is used?

What's wrong with using a car adapter like everyone else?

Nothing . . . I just hate to buy a car adapter if I have another gadget
that could do the job :-{)}
Actualy, I am considering using the laptop to power the 60GSx. Once
connected via the USB cable, I can then use nRoute. The trip I'm preparing
for involves about 10 hours of driving, so it would be beneficial from both
stanpoints: using the laptop as a display screen for easy navigation and not
using my GPS batteries while driving.
The orignal question was more of an idle "Hmm . . . I wonder . . ." kinda
thing. Would be nice if it works, but there's plenty of other solutions. I
am going to check the phone charger specs just to see what the output is.
