Has anyone been able to successfully download and install Garmin's
latest Mapsource software 6.12.3? I've downloaded it and have been
unable to run it. It would come up with error messages. I've checked the
download and the file looked fine. I am suspecting there's an issue with
the source file.

I fell right in place on my Windows 2000 Pro system. That was an update
to a 6.11.5 install. I have 6.12.2 on my laptop but have not done that yet.

It failed to install for me. The error is:
"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package.
This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2103"

Unfortunately it had already removed part of the previous version,
so I have to find a previous updater to get it back.

Thanks for those who has responded and had no problems with the upgrade.

The specific message was "Failed to open EXE:" in a small window with an
OK button. When clicked, Chilkat Zip Self-Extractor window would open up
and once the Unzip button is clicked, the progress bar would immediately
fill and say it's finished. And then it would stay there. I have left it
overnight to just make sure and made no difference.

I would make sure that the name of the file you downloaded is erased 100%
and try again.

Try manually deleting the .exe file that was priorly
downloaded. It's probably no good. Then re-download the
file, saving it to your harddrive.

Then locate the new MapSource_6123.exe file with windows
search and double click on it from there and see if that
works. If not, try sending me an email and I'll send you
back a reply with the .exe file that worked for me and you
can give that a shot. Email address is valid as is.

Thanks again. It's been a pain and I have tried all that. Cleared
download cache, deleted existing file, downloaded on 2 different
computers. I am starting to wonder if it's an issue with my ISP's server
end cache.

Yes, I would really appreciate it if I can get a copy of the file from
you as the 6.12.2beta I have presently is refusing to work due to
expiration date. While the auto updater function would only provide
6.12.2, a 1kb file. I think there's also some fault at Garmin's server
end.

I'll email you separately.

Artoi,

I'm posting from google due to firewall issues at my workplace.

Did you get the file I sent?

BTW, please re-email me that site that we used. I can't recall it's
url and a guy here is interested.

Thanks and let me know how you made out.
