Streetpilot c330 problem: Cant' Select Country/State etc.

| When I try to input an address, it asks me to "Select State". When I
press "Select State", it just shows a blank screen instead of a list
of US states. Same thing when I try to select POIs like restaurants,
shopping etc. Just a blank screen. If I simply press "View Map" in the
main screen, it shows me my current location with all street maps and
tracks my progress with ave. speed etc. That tells me that the maps
are in there somewhere and the unit is talking to the satellites. When
I click "Map Info" in setup, it says "City Navigator North America NT
v8" but somehow, I am unable to use these maps.for routing or POIs.
Please help!
I had used the CN Europe NT v9 maps on an SD card last month and they
had worked fine. I've now removed the card from the unit to make sure
that those maps don't clash with the North American maps but that
hasn't helped. Maybe the unit has some residual files for NT Europe on
it which might be clashing with the North America NT files. Seems like
some sort of a database issue. Maybe a hard reset would fix it. Any
idea of how to reset it?
Tried calling Garmin but they're closed for the weekend. Need to use
the GPS over the weekend. Thanks for your help in advance.

Sounds like you forgot to select "include routing information", when
you transferred the maps.

| The c330 comes with North America NT maps stored on the hard drive. I
don't have any disks to upload the maps from my PC. Any other ideas?
Thanks for yoru help.

There is a soft reset button under the faceplate on the front of the unit.
If that doesn't help you can try:
Perform a Hard Reset to Clear Your GPS:
1. Turn GPS off
2. Press and hold the bottom right hand corner of the screen
3. Turn the GPS on (and continue to hold the right hand corner)
4. A warning screen will appear and ask if you want to continue
This will erase all your custom data. This is excellent after buying a used
unit or after moving to clear all your data.

| Didn't work. The faceplate is made of a strong plastic. Although I
pressed it quite hard, I doubt if I was able to press any buttons
which might be underneath it. If it were made of rubber, it might have
worked. Also tried pressing the bottom right corner of the screen but
that's didn't help either.

Remove the faceplate! Instructions are in the manual, available from the
Garmin web site.
The hard reset takes a while to work. Hold the corner while powering up and
continue to hold the corner, eventually the screen will appear.
I have done it just to make sure I know how, so I know it works.

| Ok try this:
Insert the SD card back in the unit that has the Europe maps on it.
Turn unit on.
Touch the wrench at the bottom.
Select MAP.
Select Map Info.
Uncheck Europe.
Check North America.
Select OK and go back.

| Sounds like another good reason to own the 320 instead of the 330!
