Just an observation. I am noticing the 76CSx being sold cheaper than
the 60CSx and about a year ago, Garmin had a $100 off for this unit but
only $50 off the 60CSx. Any idea why the difference in cost, besides
the 76CSx looking rather ugly and not as rugged as the 60CSx?

It was that $100 rebate last year that sealed my decision between buying
the 60Cx or 76Cx. My 76Cx cost me $309 with shipping and the rebate
check showed up about 6 weeks later.

The 76Cx also came with a microSD card that, at 128 MB, was slightly
less useless than the 64 MB card supplied with the 60 series.

I suspected at the time that maybe Garmin was going to discontinue the
76 series and that they were closing them out but that has not happened.

After some years of using Magellan Meridian GPSR's with the 60 series
shape and feel, I have actually come to like the 76's shape, display,
and button location better. The thing comes to use in my left hand more
naturally and my thumb never blocks the display. Also, the unit is more
easily propped up against things and will stand that way better.

I don't change the memory card very often any more but in the early
stages, when I was playing with it a lot more, the 76's card location
made it much faster and easier in use. I've swapped the card without
shutting the GPS off a number of times now, more by error than intent,
and the GPS has handled that fine.

I love my 76Cx, it is the Best GPS Receiver in the World! So if you
will confine your remarks about the "ugly and fragile" 76Cx I won't tell
you what I think of your overweight and homely daughter! :> )

Not as rugged? HUH?!? I'd love to hear the "rationale"
behind that one...

Ugly? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like the 76
TONS more than the 60. The layout is much nicer as far as
I'm concerned.

Let me correct that, it cost me $409 with shipping, $309 *after* I had
the rebate in hand. I got it from Amazon.
