Does anybody use their 60 or 70 series for motorcycling in back
country roads, Im thinking of buying one or the other for my
motorcycle. How are the maps supplied for this type of travelling?

Thks,

I use a 60CSx on my motorcycle to do backroads, but the basic maps
built in to the GPS are practically useless except to tell where
you've been. In my case here in Canada I usually use Mapsource Topo
and Metroguide Canada V4, though I have City Select as well on the
memory card.

If I only had one map to choose from, it would probably be Metroguide
V4.

I've used a 76Cx on my motorcycle. Previously it was in the map case on
the tank bag, this year it will be on a RAM mount on the handle bars.

The 60/76 "x" series models all come with a base map of major national
and state roads. As you receive it, it can autoroute on those roads but
you'll not have much detail once you get off of them.

If you add the City Navigator NT North America mapping package you'll
add street level detail for the entire U.S. and some additional detail
for selected cities and areas of Canada. I think it is fair to say that
you'll see virtually every highway in America that has been in use for
more than a few years and most streets that are more than a few years old.

You can see the level of detail you would get from CN NT NA by using the
MapSource Map Viewer at this link:

http://www8.garmin.com/cartography/...e/citynavnt.jsp

Zoom in to a familiar area and set the detail level to high and you'll
see all the details there that you would see with that mapping on a
60/76 "x" series GPS receiver.

It will work fine but you may need to get maps, as I am not sure what comes
with it. You can get fine detailed maps and topo maps.
