| Hello;
Does anybody know if the 60csx has a limit on how big of a Micro Sd card
it will read? I want to buy a 2gb card and I seem to remember a chat
about if the 60CSx could read that large of a card. Anybody used a 2gb
sucessfully?
Thanks,
Dave

I'm using a 2GB card in a 76CSx which is (reportedly) electronically
identical to the 60CSx; all of City Navigator NA v8 fits on the card.

| From what I've read in other forums, the new 4 gig cards will not work.
Also, the Sandisk Ultra series 2 gig cards have a known compatiblility
issue, so stay with the standard (non Ultra series)

| Yes it does. That's what I'm using. Just stay away from the "Ultra" series

I haven't read the Garmin's FAQ above, but I just spent about 30 mins
Googling around the Max SDHS my coming Nuvi 680 can handle and I read =
quite
a few wrong information from Garmin Tech on quite afew different models.
Or the information from Garmin site and Garmin tech say 2MB max, and =
some
model can handle 4GB SDHS max etc. when few people report their work fine
with 4GB and Nuvi 680 works fine with 8GB SDHS (one message mentions Nuvi
680 reports 4.72GB).
What I am thinking here that Garmin has bunch of old information and the
Garmin tech doesn't want to risk their job to give the information s/he
know, but they pass along the (dated) information Garmin gives them.

This wiki gives some insight to compatibility of the newer SDHC (SD High
Capacity) memory cards:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Secur...ard#
SDHC
In another thread here, someone recently reported using a SanDisk 4 GB
SDHC in a nuvi 680 here. But I guess only some Garmin models will use
them.
Another issue (per the wiki) is that "Some manufacturers have produced
4GB SD cards that conform to neither the SD2.0/SDHC spec nor existing SD
devices". So some caution or testing is needed to determine compatibility.

After reading Nuvi 680 works with many SDHC 4GB and even 8GB SDHC =
class-6,
I checked for the price and can't believe it's even cheaper than CF =
memory
card. I found many online stores have 8GB SDHC for under $70
And I checked the "Order Status" mid-nite last nite and it said "In
Process" <bg> and I will check again and will give them a call to find =
out
what's going on.

Ok, they just change their way to give the info, so the adress whas
not good.
Here is their text:
Question: What is the largest size microSD card that I can use in my
X-series GPS unit?
Answer:
At this time, the 2 GB cards are the largest microSD cards that can be
used for the X-series GPS units. However, the X-series GPS units are
not compatible with the San Disk Ultra II cards and therefore we do
not recommend using the Ultra II micro SD cards with any of the X
units.

Clear and simple.
And that works with a kingston 2G on a 60CSX.

The messages I read from other Garmin users they use 4GB-8GB SDHC, and I
will see if I can be able to locate the forum and paste the LINK here.
BTW, I have never owned any SD card, but from what I read (yesterday was
the first time I did some research on SD card) SD has limited to 2GB and =
the
newer SDHC is up to 8GB now (it may go for 16GB and even larger). And I
really like the cheaper price comparing to CF

Good news! my new toy Nuvi 680 was shipped yesterday (the web page is

I have been trying to upgrade my old Garmin StreetPilot to newer model =
for
many years now, but because of the way Garmin spraying so many different
models into market that confuse me so much to be able to make up my mind.
So, right now the Nuvi 680 seems to be a pretty good choice at the =

but it may be out of wax sooner than I expect.

I expect to see a lot of new models over the next couple of years. I think
the GPS market has finally reached critical mass and is exploding. The new
units are easy enough to use, affordable, and will appeal to almot everyone.

This is my 4th Garmin GPS so I do expect it will be dated in short time.
My first 2 GPSes were mono, and I upgraded to the 2nd mono because it had
larger displaying, then upgraded to 3rd one (StreetPilot III Deluxe) =
because
it was the first color one.
And now upgraded to the 4th one because I have been sicken tired of the
128MB limited memory that I wanted to upgrade to newer for many years, =
but
get so confuse with newer models so I didn't til now.
