Nuvi 650 - how big an SD card will it support?

I have about 5 GB of music that I would like to transfer. Will the Nuvi 650
support a 8 GB card?

Many thanks!
Bruce.

Probably not. Garmin emailed me that 4GB was the max for the 660.

Rats. After reading the reply from Garmin about only supporting 4GB max, I
ordered two 4G cards instead of one 8GB last night. Oh well.

Thanks,
Bruce.

Lacking of up_to_date or correct information is the problem we have with
Garmin, and that's one of the reasons why I said sometime we can't =
believe
thing comes out of the horse's mouth <bg>

Me, I prefer 1_bigger over _2_smallers, but we have no choice if the GPS
doesn't support the larger.

Bad News, I have been waiting the whole morning for the FedUp (FedEx) =
but
no delivery, so I checked with their web page to read a NOTE saying they
came at 1:03pm (I checked and called at around 1:40pm) and=20

"Customer not available or business closed "

Well, I called their 800 #'s to report and they will try to deliver =
later
today. And there is NO NOTE on my door

I had a similar experience with DHL. Website showed left in the
customer's door. Nope. Called them, they promised to contact the
driver. In the meantime I went to the mailbox, about 200 feet down the
driveway. I found the package in the mailbox. Lazy XXXXer couldn't
bother to drive up and leave it and then had to lie about it. I let the
company know, plus I also let the Postmistress know. She said she would
file a formal complaint on behalf of the USPS.

This time it seems like the lazy delivery lady was trying to cheat the
system for some reason. She finally returned to deliver, while I had the
door opened to let her know someone was waiting etc..

About 20-25 mins after I called she returned but instead of ringing the
bell she tapped slightly on the door and already had the Yellow Note =
ready
to stick on the door <bg>=20

Which is against federal law.

I remember, years ago, kids delivering the newspaper got into big
trouble with the law because they were using the mailbox as a place to
keep the paper dry on rainy days. We're talking 10, 12 year olds here.
USPS came after them, with the might of the feds.

Yep, I found the same 4GB max in their FAQ list too. I had it from multiple
sources which is why I decided to get two 4GB cards.

I couldn't agree more. After ordering the 4 GB cards, I was pretty uphappy
when I read someone had a 8GB card working. I missed that piece of
information by just hours.

I hope you have it by now!

Ok, thanks VERY much for that information. In my case, my song collection
would exceed 1000 songs so I couldn't well use a 8 GB card anyway. So I'm
still better with the two 4 GB cards, about 750 songs each.

Thanks again,
Bruce.

Software is part of the Firmware which may be fixed or improved to =
support
more than 1000 songs. Also, the memory can be used for other things like
additional map, POIs, and can be none GPS stuff.

4GB is bad but ain't too bad <bg> especially the price is so low these
days. Or if we go back to 6-7 months or around 1-2 years or so ago, 4GB =
may
cost around $1000 or more. I just can't be able to keep track of all the
changing as I remember paying around $200 for 4-8M (yup 4Meg)

That sounds like my first computer when ram was going for $50 a meg.

When I got my first digital camera I paid about $300 for a 512MB Compact
Flash card.

Memory sure has gotten so much cheaper than those days. Now I can get a 4GB
SDHC card for $40.

I started computing in late 70's, and I think sometime in early 80's =
when
DRAM was shortage in US and I had to pay around $1200 for 1MB of DRAM in
Hong Kong.

And 10-20MB hard drive cost $3000-4000 a pop. And gas was around 45-50
cents a galon or so at the time, in 70's it was 15-20 cents

I know and that's no excuse to limit ourselves <bg> And just few years
ago, I only paid around $60-100/year co-pay for my medicine, now around
$240-280/monthly

Yep, between my wife and I we're up to about $400-$450 a month. I don't
know who's getting rich, but i'm sure it's not me.

The Co-Pay and gas price give me more excutes to spend extra money on
newer toys <bg>. Example when I want to buy a newer photography =
equipment
like newer DSLR, newer lens, or GPS etc.. I come up with poor excuse

- A new $1000+ DSLR body or $600+ GPS only cost around 12-15 tanks of gas
<bg> or 2-3 months of co-pay for me daily medicines=20

- If I am sick for few weeks or less drving for few moths, getting some
sample medicine from doctor etc. would save me few hundred bucks to spend=
on
more expensive toy <bg>

Hahaha and the good thing that I can fool myself with those excuses <bg>
