Unlockcode from Quest
|
|
|
| Hi,
I baught a second hand Quest on Ebay. The Quest was not working and I knew
that (no reception). I was able to repair the Quest and it is still loaded
with maps from City Select 7 Europe. Is there a way to retreive the
unlockcode from the gps so that i could load other regions from CS 7 ?
The problem on this gps was the connection between the gps and the antenna,
It's fixed now .
Thanks,

The unlock code is not stored on the Quest, it is stored in the
MapSource install on the PC. It can be recovered from that MapSource
installation. And I think the person that registered and unlocked the
software can go online to their My Garmin account and recover the unlock
code from there.
You might try asking the seller if you can get any of that info from
them. Of if they can remember their My Garmin login, maybe they can
give you that or recover it for you.
I don't know how it works for products registered in Europe, but for
U.S. products if you talk to a Garmin tech support person on the phone
and give them the serial number of unit (the serial number on the label,
not the Unit I.D.), they can retrieve info about the unit and the
unlocks for you. I'm not sure they would do that if you are not the
person that registered it though.

That is not an uncommon problem on the Quests, the coaxial connector
acts as the pivot for the folding antenna it can get over loaded and the
connection broken.
