Author WAAS/EGNOS ON or OFF?

My brand new Nuvi 350 NA came with the WASS/EGNOS turned off by default.
My understanding that this improves accuracy.... Should I turn it on? I use
it mostly in Michigan.

Any down side to turning it ON?

Thanks,
mac

I can't remember all info I read, but from the LINK I posted few days ago
mention about that (it was for Nuvi 680)

Don't know if there is a down side. I have a 350. Had it since May
of 2006. I immediately set it for WAAS/EGNOS ON and have done 15,000
miles with that setting from the West coast to the East coast and back
and from Main to Florida. No problems. Works great! Doesn't seem
slow from having WAAS/EGNOS ON. Love it.

It is alleged that Mac claimed:

No downside that I know of, and it should drastically increase the
accuracy of your GPS from ~30 feet to ~3 feet.

My Dad recently got a Nuvi, I think the same model you have, and he was
complaining to me this weekend that it doesn't seem as accurate as my
c330. So I had him check the status of the WAAS/EGNOS setting and it
was off (mine's on). He turned it on, and accuracy improved.

It can be tough using it for navigation when the streets are closer
together than the positioning margin of error, can't it? :)

Mac,

According to the manual appendix, it recommends turning it off to
maximize internal battery life. Of course when you have it plugged in
to your car, that is not a factor. I regularly leave it on except for
those rare times when I am using it away from the car for any extended
period of time.
