I went from an SP-III to an SP-2720. Major
improvements are:

o Much faster route calculations (5-6x faster at
least)
o User interface makes entering addresses much
easier (touch screen makes that so)

These improvements are huge. With the SP-III I
often would drive past the new next turn before a
recalc of a longish route was complete --
resulting in a very long sequence of recalcs. And
I seldom used the address lookup far less with the
SP-III since the input took so long with rocker
control vs. on-screen spelling input.

Screen brightness-visibility seems equivalent (a
bit hard to compare because of different
background color, etc.), but never a problem.
Screen brightness is auto-adjust using sensor
(setting option) or manual.

Mounts in the same dash mount, making upgrade a
simple R&R.

Receiver performance seems equivalent (sans
external antenna)

Adds 3D view option, or 2D.

I've read that the 27XX are not as good as the
26XX models. But no functionality loss from the
SP-III that I care about.
