| The gps can take a long time to boot to ready. The basic boot cycle is 20
second to the main screen. How quickly it becomes ready to navigate after
that depends on how long the gps satellite locks take. Anything from
instant to several minutes.
However, I found something that delays the initial boot sequence even more.
A SDHC card full of music. The player doesn't have to be active. It looks
like the gps scans the card and that pauses the drawing of the first map
until completed. When I have a card of 750 songs inserted, after the first
20 seconds, the map just says "drawing" for another 60 seconds while it does
whatever it does. Total boot time, 1 minute 20 seconds to map drawing. The
mp3 player is also unavailable until after the 80 seconds.
Moral: Don't leave a SDHC card inserted unless you plan to use it.
I've also noticed something that I can't reproduce at will. Sometimes the
mp3 Shuffle mode will not work immediately. Stepping through the songs goes
1, 2, 3, etc., instead of randomly. And then all the sudden 20-30 seconds
later, all by itself, Shuffle mode will kick in and the play order will
become random again.
