Map detail compared with tomtom
|

| Might be a silly question.
I use a Nuvi 310D and my sister has an old TomTom.
The Tomtom was showing more up to date info on restaurants than the Nuvi, ie
more McDonnalds & Pizza Hut.
Is there anything I can do to match this information ?
(I have checked for updates)

What do you mean by "checked for updates"?
- All update map and POI etc. are in newer MAP which costs $75 to upgrade
- MapSource, Firmware etc. are free and have nothing to do with =
up-to-date
map and newer POI

Well, if you want your life to be saved then you can always use one of =
the
free POI and they probably have more current M than Garmin provide (???).

Somewhere in one of the MENU of the GPS unit will display the version of
"firmware", "map version"
Here on my Nuvi 680
1. Press the "wrench" icon
2. Press the "Map" icon=20
3. Press the "Map Info" and it reports City Navigator 2008
About the POI if your Nuvi has option to install additional POI then you
can always check with some web for free POI then install it/them =
yourself.

Mine shows "city navigator europe NT v9, [1] UK & Ireland" but it does seem
that I should be looking more at POI than the map itself.
I didn't know they were seperate.

I am in America to know much about Europe, but I believe I read Europe =
v9
was released around more/less a year ago.
For POI of Europe you may want to GOOGLE for it as I have run into quite=
a
few POI for countries outside of America. I believe the LINK I posted =
here
sometime ago has POI for Europe countries too... or you can always check
with Peer-2-Peer.
