| I updated my GPS and the Mapsource on my desktop computer. I want to update
the maps on my laptop, too. It appears the only way to do it is to let the
disc update the GPS AGAIN when I install it on the laptop. I don't see any
option to just update the computer. Am I missing something here? At least
I'll know for next time.

Apparently, although you didn't say what sort of GPS receiver you
have, so maybe some receivers work differently.
I was able to install CN NA 2008 on my laptop without having my 76CSx
anywhere near it.

| I'm writing this from memory, so not sure of the exact wording of some of
the options. On your original installation, go to the update page (Ctrl-U)
and choose to save a copy of your unlock code to a file. Copy this file to
your second computer, then install CN 2008. Go to the update page from the
second computer and choose to unlock from a file and navigate to the file
you copied..
Hope this helps.

| Sorry. It's a 2720 using 2008 NT.

| Somehow, I didn't have to use the unlock code with the NT version (this one
at least). It did require the product key number, which is on the cover.
The only options I've found on the disc requires the 2720 to be plugged in
and connected with the USB cable to proceed to the install. It then seems
to update the computer AND the GPS unit. No real option to just download
and install the update to the computer. Strange.............

Bizarre. I thought for sure a new unlock code would be necessary for the
update.

| I called their customer service and the software guy had me put in the disc
and then instead of running it, open it from 'my computer' and install the
maps from there. It worked, but I DID have to use an unlock code doing it
that way. He said that having the 2720 attached took the place of the
unlock code. I had to go to the garmin website to get the right code, but
it's working now.

Cool. I'm glad you got it working. I'll have a chance tomorrow to give it
a try too when my order arrives.
