Author "Reverse route" - does it even work?

I have the Garmin Quest. Got my HOME and a work waypoint. I created a
named route on PC (Mapsource) selecting the points I wish to travel and
downloaded the route. No problem.

When I went to go home, and 'reverse route', I get this bizarre message
saying the new route doesn't follow exact roads in the map, and wants to
know if I should recalculate. What's that all about?

I tried a number of other existing routes, and none of them work when trying
to 'reverse'. What's the deal? Do I need to manually create both coming
and going routes??

does your route have any of 1) divided highways, one way streets, exit
ramps, left turn lanes, roundabouts, or similar? If so, that would be a
problem.

I have a Quest I. On my webpage I explain how I set up my mapsource map and
the Quest so that they are tracking the same type route.
http://www.billcotton.com/quest_on_bicycle.htm I reverse the route in
mapsource if I want a return route. Usually, if I want to return the same
way I use the "Trackback" feature; "Find", "Where am I", "Trackback" It is
easest if previous tracks are erase at the start of the trip. The you can
pick "Track to the begining of tracks" Any tine I tried to reverse a route
on the Quest the route is changed.

Henry is correct and the best alternative is to go home. While at home,
create a waypoint ( Home). Then go anywhere you wish and when you want to go
home, go to waypoints select home then tell it to go to. Then it will route
to home from where you are.

Thanks to all - the way that was just described is the way I had it working
for over a year. But my way home deviates from what the Garmin thinks is
'best' because I take a back set of roads. Yes, the route to work does
include a divided road (albeit both ways), and none of the roads are
actually one way, although each side certainly is (!). Well, I can live
with keeping it what I used to have.

Thanks!
