| Seems most have nothing but horror stories when dealing with Garmin tech
support.
Sure not the case here, maybe I was just lucky.
I bought a 76CSx from an internet retailer.
Ordered City Navigator Ver 8 direct from Garmin.
The 76CSx was used for about 2 weeks, approx. 6 hours run time.
The software from Garmin finally showed up and was installed.
The GPS unit failed at that time.
Returned the unit to the retailer. After lots of back and forth they never
sent a new unit back but did finally return my money.
Ordered another 76CSx from another retailer.
The new GPS arrived and was connected to the computer, maps, routes and way
points were loaded - yep - got the dreaded "Can't Unlock Maps" message.
I was afraid that would happen, new serial number on the new GPS not
matching the software that had been unlocked for the first GPS.
Called tech support, waiting for the dreaded 30 to 40 minute hold and then
see if anything could be done.
Well, I was on hold less than 30 seconds.
Told tech support what had happened.
They checked to make sure I had registered and unlocked the software.
After checking and confirming who I was tech support took my new serial
number and created a new unlock code.
Code was read to me over the phone, as well as sent immediately in an email.
I read back the code as I entered it into City Navigator Ver 8.
Reinstalled maps, routes and waypoints, worked as advertised.
Great job on the part of tech support.
Total time from their phone ringing until I had a new unlock code and was
uploading maps, less than 5 minutes.
Sure does not get much better than that, what can I say.
I certainly have no complaints with Garmin tech support.
Just thought I should point out that it is not always bad news, good things
do happen.
Thanks again to Curtis at Garmin.

Hahaha Garmin should thank you because
- You should get current CN v2008 instead of older version v8
- And you should get it for FREE instead of paying for it. Unless =
"order"
means free from Garmin, and still you should get v2008 instead of older =
v8
So, that ain't a good thing ... but as long as you don't know then it
could be a good thing <bg>

| Don't feel to smug.
The new version is in fact on the way, free of charge.
The original software was ordered the end of June and arrived the first part
of July.
Took this long to get the problem with the retailer sorted out, not nearly
as simple as my Garmin problem.
Garmin has been great, the retailer was the problem.
So, as I correctly stated, it is a good thing.
