Author 60Cx: Tone Volume and Routing Recalc Questions

Just got a 60Cx as a replacement for my GPS-V. I have two questions:

1) Is there any way to adjust the volume of the "turn approaching" beeps? I
haven't found one and they're very soft, too soft to hear easily.

2) When selecting a route from a list of routes from the main menu, routes
I've created in advance in MapSource and downloaded to the 60Cx, when I
select the route I see a "calculating" display for a few seconds. Why would
it be calculating a route that I've already decided on in advance? Sure, if
I've selected some waypoints and am asking it to BUILD a route, yes, it
needs to calculate. But I don't WANT it to calculate my route I've already
planned. The only way I can see to maybe defeat this action is to turn off
Off Route Recalculation, but I that feature available if I have to divert
from the preplanned path for some reason. How do I force it to just do the
route like I planned it in Mapsource?

Thanks!

My 60CSx goes its own way. I plan a route from map source, down load it,
as you say it calculates then comes up with a substantially different
route. Which when I have taken pains to avoid a particular road can be a
pain. If I then use a number of waypoints to get the route correct it
insists that I visit these in turn. The result is if there is a road
diversion up having gone round a waypoint it insists on taking me back
to that waypoint.

That's not what I wanted to hear, but thanks for the info. I've emailed
Garmin as well, and will post their response here.
