GeePeeEx Editor is designed to produce .gpx files for input to POILoader -
in other words, to be turned into Points-Of-Interest (POI's). The
Favourites mechanism is best used (IMO) for short-term, quick access items.
As you're discovering, there is not a lot of flexibility there. There is a
limit on the number you can have as well. (Probably somewhere between 500 &
1000, depending on the unit).

Fortunately, converting a Favourite to a POI is relatively straightforward,
since a backup copy is made available in \gpx\Current.gpx. This file can be
edited further before being converted.

Correct. But if you start to use POI's instead, these can be organised by
'category' in a Tree structure. This makes collections of 50000+ POI's
easily managable.

GeePeeEx Editor allows access to fields that Mapsource does not expose -
such as the Address / telephone fields. Data placed in the telephone fields
allows bluetooth connected phones to automatically dial the associated
number. When importing and converting .csv files, GeePeeEx Editor will
re-locate any telephones numbers it finds into the correct fields.

GeePeeEx Editor will re-organise those address fields so that they display
in the correct order. For some reason, every Nüvi (and the C5xx/Zümo range)
displays these incorrectly. They all display them in different, incorrect
ways!

GeePeeEx Editor will overcome some of the other device-specific limitations
as well (such as the truncation to 256chars of the Nüvi 3xx series
description field). The Nüvi 6xx series has an extra page for displaying POI
information, but persuading the unit to display it, is not as
straight-forward as it ought to be. (Much the same can be said of the Nüvi
2xx series). It's worth doing though, because on that page, you can use
<html> markup to produce some really professional results - especially when
used in conjunction with attached JPEG's and sound files. In GeePeeEx
Editor, this functionality is just a check-box away ;-)

....and the next version will introduce Google Maps output and Geocoding into
the mix. (It already does Google Earth/.kml input/output).
