Author how to get rid of base map?

Hello,
There is a basemap I do not need (America's marine) on my 60Csx.
How can I get rid of it, in order to get some additional free space?
(incidently, is it necessary to have a basemap installed?)
Thanks!

You can turn it off but you can't remove it.

Garmin sells devices with a basemap appropriate to the continent in which
the device is sold. You cannot delete, alter or replace the basemap. It is
built in. If you wish, you can turn it off, so that it is not displayed on
the screen.

For what it's worth, Garmin calls that a "database" not a base map. On
my 76Cx I can turn it off but I don't think it can be removed.

All supplemental maps are stored on the external memory, you won't gain
anything that I know of by deleting something from the internal memory.
