GPSMAP 60Cx question

| Hello,
I am new to GPSing so probably this question has possibly been asked
and answered here before but here goes.
I live in the upper midwest region of the US and just returned from a
backpacking trip out to Colorado. Before I left home, I deleted all
the tracks I had made at home so I would be starting out with an empty
track log. I did not, however, delete some waypoints that I thought I
would like to keep for when I returned home. While out in CO for a
week of backpacking I nearly filled up the tracklog. I decided to
save the entire tracklog to load back into my computer when I got home
to further study my tracks on the MapSource software. When I did
that, it included a straight track all the way back to one of my saved
waypoints back home???? Why would it do this? Also, when I changed
batteries a couple times, I seemed to mysteriously lose some of my
earlier tracks??? I was careful to replace the batteries as quickly
as possible and did not run the old batteries totally out of power.
My 60Cx was bought new in July and except for these things I am truely
happy with it. It did an amazing job for me up in the high country
from the deep gulches up to nearly 12,000 ft elevation it never lost a
signal. Thanks for any input on this.

You probably had the GPS receiver on for a short period of
time after clearing the track log at home and it recorded
a trackpoint or two. When you saved the active log, you
probably saved the whole log and the "save" function
filled in the gaps, in particular, the one from home
to Colo.
The track log is stored in flash memory. You could
have taken an hour to change the batteries and not
have lost the track logs. Maybe you have the track
logging set to "wrap when full."
