I currently have a quest 2 for use on a motorcycle and am considering
upgrading to a Zumo 450 or 550. Due to the fact that the Quest seems
unbearably slow to calculate and or process. Which quite often can lead to
missed turns and so on.

I have looked on the Garmin site but it has no information on Processing
speeds of their units. Does anyone know if the Zumos's are faster at
calculating? or have any good advice for comparisons.

Thanks
Chuck

Zumo uses the much faster Sirf III chip than the Quest. It will read in
areas the Quest won't.

Get the 550. Sooner or later the minimal difference in cost will make the
addition of weather and XM Radio worth it.

I have the original Quest and the Zumos are the only units that I would get
to replace it. I've run the Quest side by side with the Quest 2 and the
Quest 2 is considerably slower in screen updates, prompts, and
recalculation. This might possibly be improved with a s/w update.

I think the Zumos are considerably faster though I have not done a
side-by-side. You will lose some features like track logging, and custom
avoidances but at least they support routes and off-road nav. Unlike the
Quest they are too big to easily pocket and have a much shorter battery life
too. But you get the high sensitivity receiver, bigger screen, and, in the
550, voice prompts with street names.
