Legend mixing download maps

| I Know I asked this question just a month ago, but I had a senior moment,
and erased the replies from my computer during a HD disk cleanup.
I have a Etrex Legend.
Is there a way to mix maps from different source CDs?
When I enroute an area, all I need is large area maps that show roads, from
something like Metro Guide NA.
When I get to my target area, I usually 3 or 4 topo quads from TOPO USA.
Can I mix and match maps from two different sources, and download them to my
Legend so that maps from both types will be in the memory at the same time?
( I don't want to carry a laptop into the field. I don't want it stolen.)
If so, HOW?
Will the two different sets seamlessly transfer from one to the other?
( When I am in an area covered by a TOPO map, I want it to override any base
map or Metro guide map).
If not, how do I switch map types?
Does anyone know of any FAQs that cover this subject?

In MapSource select your first map product from the pull-down menus. Use
the map tool to select the map segments you wish to install from that map
product. Go back to the pull-down menu and select the next map product from
which you want to select map segments. Again, use the map tool and select
the map segment you wish to use from this map product. If you have a third
product, repeat. After you have selected all the map segment from all the
map products, send the maps to your Legend. The map tab at the left side of
the MapSource window will show how many total segments, their names and at
the bottom, the total size of the combination in MB. You cannot set one
map product to override another automatically. I believe Metroguide will
always be on top of TOPO 2008. When you get to the area where you want to
use Topo 2008, from the map page select "Set Up Map". From the map setup
page select the icon at the top that looks like an "i" in a circle. Your
option menu will let you hide/show the different map sets you have
installed.

I dug out the Legend and see I got a few things confused with the newer
units. The "i" icon on the Set Up Map page is in a square, not a circle.
Also the map selection menu is a little different, but you should be able to
see how to get the maps to show and hide the ones you don't.
