Go to Setup, then system, then push the menu button and choose
software version.

If you have not found it already, the updates for the 60CS are here:

The WebUpdater automated updating system works pretty good, many find it
easier and faster to use than the downloads method.

Some responses refer to the GPMap 60c, but you didn't mention "map".
If you don't have a mapping unit, then there might be no difference at all
between US and European versions. Or is there no such thing as a 60c that
isn't a mapping unit? The GPSMap 60c is $265 from tvnav.com.
You might want the much more sensitive GPSMap 60cx for $305.

A friend has a US GPSMap76cs, essentially the same unit for mapping
purposes, and has the CityNavigator Australia mapset loaded into it.
That works fine in Australia. Routing, POIs, etc.

Just the basemap isn't much good unless you are in a big city that is
included, and then it's still not very exciting.
