Question RE: reading messages on Yahoo Forums

Is it possible to use some program that gives the ease of ie, (free)
agent for reading messages on those groups such as the map makers one?
It is such a pain in the XXX doing it the way I am doing, that I keep
thinking I must be doing something wrong. I can't seem to find a
convenient way to log on, read thru all new messages in whatever
topics, reread the other entries in the topic as appropriate, and get
the hell off the site. I'm paging all over the damn place all the
time, and practically have to keep a notepad to keep track of it all.
Am I merely explaining here why those group/forum thingees are so
poorly-attended, or do I need better software or a better method?

Both Yahoo Groups and Google Groups have options to send messages to you via
email rather than forcing you to read them on the web; for Yahoo Groups, go
to the groups home page, then look for the Manage link next to "My Groups".
Once you get there, look for Message Delivery, and set as desired.
I use both services this way, and it's painless (aside from message volume!).

You might look at PGOffline. It downloads the messages from Yahoo into an
ACCES database and allows you to read them offline. You can also search the
forums offline. It is not freeware but I have found it to be useful. There
is a trial version.
