Author Nuvi - legend of screen colors

Hello everyone,

I've been trying to find a legend of colors for Garmin's maps, as
shown on Nuvis (and, possibly, other models I'm not familiar with).
While some are obvious (blue, red or magenta), others are not -- and
I'd really like to know the meaning of a traffic artery changing from
- say - yellow to orange.

Anyone got a link to a page/table with the aforementioned legend of
colors?

Thanks,
Q

There is a legend for map lines and other objects as they are seen in
MapSource. I don't know of a legend on or for a specific device.

As always, the legend in MapSource does not always seem to be 100
percent accurate with what is seen on a GPS receiver. Here is what
MapSource says for the road types in the Legend:Map Lines. I am
interpreting or guessing the displayed colors. There appear to be two
different widths for roads, and of course there are line types shown also:

gray - Street or Roadway

gray wide - Ramp

black - Arterial Roadway

red - Other Through Highway, State Highway, or Major Arterial

red wide - Principal Highway, US, or Limited Access Highway

black wide - Major Highway Connector

blue wide - Major Highway

When you zoom in and out in MapSource the colors of the lines seem to
change a little. The red seems to go towards orange. But when zoomed
in to ranges I would typically use when driving, I don't see any of the
orange and yellow lines you mention.

You might call Garmin at 1 800 800 1020 and ask them to send you a DVD
with the mapping that was preloaded to your nuvi so that you can figure
this out. It is not in the user's guide, right?
