Am I doing something wrong on a Garmin 660? I input "Go to..." and
search for some major cities like BOSTON, MA -- and the unit can't
find it.

A second problem is I ask it to calculate a route from the Midwest to
say Los Angeles and it fails due to "out of memory"

Thanks for your help.

I have a different model, and it won't find "Boston MA", or even "Boston,
MA", but will find a list of cities that start with just "Boston", which
you can scroll through.

It sounds like the route takes enough space that it fills up the memory.
It might be possible to delete some unused files to make additional space.
Mine's a newer model, and it will plan transcontinental trips, even with
2,000 POIs that I've added. It must have more space available.

My Nuvi does not have a "Go to..." function.
If I push "Where to?", then push "Cities", then push "Spell", it found
"Boston". In fact it found every Boston in the U.S. If I search for
"Boston, MA" it didn't find it. I assume from that that the ", MA" is
the problem. Maybe we both just learned something.
I can't help with the "out of memory" problem. Sorry. Perhaps someone
else here will know the answer to that one.

<snip>

On some models you can/have to select the maps or database the "Find"
will be made on. On my 76Cx I can choose the maps (by the product name)
I want to search. It defaults to "nearby" and searches the map
currently in use and won't find things sometimes if I don't change that.

A search for Boston on City Navigator maps on my 76Cx produces about 25
Bostons and long list, like hundreds of cities, with "boston" as part of
their names.
