Anyone know if there is a map of Malta that would load into a Garmin? I
have a feeling that the place hasn't even been fully mapped - let alone
"GPSed", but it has to be worth asking the question!

I made one last year. It's available here: http://tinyurl.com/3xzjkh

It has to be said, that it's not brilliant, but it might give you a clue as
to roughly where you are and where you heading. I had lots of bother
calibrating it and I came to the conclusion that the original paper map I
scanned, was the source of the problem.

Hello Nick.

I've just supplied my Nüvi with a map of Malta with streetmaps and POI's.

The maps can be downloaded from "free Garmin maps" ....
http://garminmapsearch.com/

But you got to have Gpsmapper free http://cgpsmapper.com/buy.htm
and IMG2MS http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~mot...gpsenglish.html (demo/
or buy it later)

... and a "little" PC knowledge to install the maps in the GPS !

............ Per.

The only Roadmap I could find, using that site - was my own offering at
'Mapcenter'. I was hoping for something better! Which one did you use?

Any that link to http://mapcenter.cgpsmapper.com have already been through
the Commercial version of CGPSMapper. You only need cgpsmapper if you want
to modify them (without re-sharing them at Mapcenter).

Sendmap20 Rev 4.0 from http://cgpsmapper.com/download/sendmap20.zip will
download the .IMG files to the GPSR.

Hello Phil.

I used this ( yours ?)

map: I06BE005.img, 940kb, downloadable archive: 545kb
From: http://garminmapsearch.com/

I used Mapsource to view the map ...... and then load it to my gps ( legend
+ Nüvi660)

Thanks Phil. I now have this loaded in my Nuvi.

I couldn't get SendMap20 to recognise the Nuvi, so ended up using SendMap20
to create GMAPSUPP.IMG, then manually copied that to the Garmin directory on
the Nuvi. Seems to work. Off to Malta in the New Year!!

Ta for your help.

Phil, just a quick note to say thanks. I used your map once or twice during
my recent visit to Malta and it helped.

Rumour has it that Malta is going to be officially mapped soon --- hopefully
worth the wait!

Thanks again.
