| I have been browsing http://mapcenter.cgpsmapper.com/ and want to
upload a map from their site into my gps60csx. How do you upload a
..img map file into the Garmin (as opposed to mapsource compatible
files)
Thanks

| I have not done this myself, but from reading on this newsgroup and my
knowledge of the 60CSx it should be easy:
1) put the gps in "USB Mass Storage" mode menu|menu|select
setup|enter|select interface|enter|sele
ct USB Mass storage|enter after
that the gps should show up like an external drive on your computer
2) locate and copy the .img file to your hard drive for later use, delete
the .img file in the gps and replace it with the one you want to use. Make
sure you name it the same as the file in the gps to start with. On my unit
it is called gmapsupp.img

| You can:
1. Follow Tom H.'s directions
2. Use sendmap (from http://www.cgpsmapper.com)
3. If you care to, you can make the maps viewable in mapsource (takes a
little work, but it isn't hard)

| Thanks for the advice. You've triggered my curiosity. How do you
make the maps viewable in mapsource?
Thanks,
Ken

| Basic outline
1. Download cgpsmapper (http://www.cgpsmapper.com)
2. There should be a file in the Test_map directory called
test_pv.txt...edit to taste (probably best to edit in Wordpad/Word so you
get correct line feeds)
3. Run cgpsmapper pv test_pv.txt from a command prompt
4. Edit the reg file 'to taste' (fix the paths so that they point to the
right places)
5. Add the reg file to the registry (double click on it).
