I can do about at least 20 hours on 2 duracell alkalines, give or take
a couple of hours, don't even bother with battery save myself.

Never been caught out yet, its so easy to pack a few spares in your
rucksack. The more you ply around with the gizmo obviously the quicker
you'll get through the batteries.
But i walk in uk, if i was out in desert i would def be on battery
save, and a box of spares !
