So how does one determine what map/maps are loaded into their Nuvi 350??
Mine is "stock" but doesn't seem to had a great deal of detail.
Thanks!

The "what's in the box" on the Garmin web site for the Nuvi 350 lists the
following:
What's in the Box:
nüvi 350
Preloaded City Navigator® NT for North America or Europe (full coverage)
Vehicle suction cup mount*
AC charger
Vehicle power cable
Dashboard disc
USB cable
Carrying case
Quick reference guide
From this, you know that City Navigator NT has been preloaded.
I doubt that "the box" includes the DVD. I've heard various reports that
Garmin might provided the DVD on request, but since I'm not familiar with the
Nuvi line, I don't know if the 350 has the capability of being connected to a
PC. If Garmin does provide it on request, you should also find MapSource on
the same DVD.
Again, I'm not familiar with the Nuvis, but the Streetpilots I have, or have
used in the past had the capability of displaying the names of the installed
map sets. On the Streetpilots, the level of detail was based on the installed
maps, user selected level of detail, and zoom level.

To extend this - go into settings/map/map info and this should give
details of the installed maps. Similarly settings/system/about gives
details of software versions.
Just wondering whether you've got your 'map detail' turned too far down.
Also, when selecting places, matching seems very pernickety, with 'star
road west' not being recognised for a bit of 'star road', which might be
labelled 'star road west' on the map - but 'star road' will pick up 'star
road west' as one of the options!

FWIW, the Nuvi200w (UK version) does come with full street level detail
and also plugs into the PC via an optional USB lead (same one my now dead
StreetPilot used)
I recall reading about an unlock code for the streetpilot maps. If the
file is not present on the device then it needs to be created as a hard
reset will stop it working. Without the code, only the main routes are
shown, which sounds like what the OP is experiencing. It's while ago and
I might be wrong.
