Garmin GPS - MapSource hangs when connecting to GPS

MapSource hangs when attempting to upload or download to my SP2610 or
60CS. The last time I used MapSource about 6 months ago, it worked fine.
Not sure if all the Vista updates in between or my registry cleaner
messed something up. Interestingly, DeLorme Topo USA 6.0 connects just
fine with my GPS units.

In Device Manager there's a little question mark on the Garmin device
driver. It looks like this:

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the USB driver, but that
doesn't work. Any suggestions?

I'm running Windows Vista with all the updates.
MapSource ver 6.13.4
USB driver 2.2.1.0

I have no solution. Just wanted to report that I've had this
occasionally on Windows XP SP2 as well. But not often enough to
do any analysis.

What happens if you reboot and retry? If that doesn't help, you
may even have to do a complete 10-second powerdown, as some
chips can hang. Of course I cannot know if any of this helps in
the case of your computer.
