Author Sportrak Pro coud not save track to route error??

I am getting an error stating that the track route could not be saved
when trying to save a track to route? I don't understand. I was able to
save one before but not now. I have Firmware 5.34. The only thing I can
remember is I had to change batteries once in the middle of the
tracking. This took only 1 - 2 minutes.

Thanks,

Rog

Your track will be converted to a route with way points.
Maximal 49 way points per route and 20 routes is already 980 way points,
something which doesn't fit...
Therefore I think you have no room left for way points.
Have a look at the Setup -> About... screen and look for Free Memory.

With kind regards,

Like Henk says, maybe you have run out of memory. But if you download
your routes and waypoints and then clear those (only routes and
waypoints, not tracks too) maybe that will free up enough memory to save
the track.

I have a Meridian with SD cards and one of things I really like about it
is that I can collect detailed tracks and save them to the SD card for
later study/analysis. I use GPS Utility http://www.gpsu.co.uk/ to do
that but there are a number of freewares and sharewares that can be used.

The built in track to route feature converts the track to a fixed number
of waypoints (30 to 49?), but by saving the track to the SD card I get
all the trackpoints in a ASCII text file.

Once I get those into GPSU I can look at the track, overlay it onto a
map file if I have one, and edit, manipulate, and annotate the points to
my hearts content. Then, if I want, I can use the trackpoints
selectively to create routes, then upload the routes and waypoints back
into the Meridian. I think you can do most or all of those same things
with the SporTrak.

There is another thread running here (within the last few days) under
the subject "Firmware update!" that details the differences between
SporTrak software versions V5.34 (the latest) and V4.06 (the previous).
Some people have tried V5.34 and gone back to V4.06, you might find
that thread interesting.
