I have a Meridian Colour and want to connect to laptop but I can`t get the
settings right to look at the usb connection not the com port 1,2 or 3 any
idea? Mike

The output from the Meridian is RS-232 serial, you need a serial to USB
adapter between the GPS and the USB port. Then the system will plug and
play that and create a virtual COM port and you can connect to that.

If the the COM port is not in the 1-4 range, some of the Magellan
utilities or applications will not find it. So if that happens you'll
have to go into the Device Manager and changes advanced settings to get
the port number in the usable range.
